Cen Ks | We need a starter for our Arctic Cat 400. Is there any wholesale / discount places for shade-tree mechanics? or are there some good after market parts companies that have Arctic Cat parts? Or is OEM at full price at local dealer the only option?

| I hope someone has an answer. We had to replace ours a few years ago on our AC 375 (same as 400) and wasn't amused at the price they charge. Arctic Cat is way over the top with what they charge for parts. Local dealer agrees but happily charges it any way. |

| Yes you can buy aftermarket starter for the 400's. I bought one from a place back east. Jackssmallengine.com but I think they quit selling ATV parts. I have good luck with my NAPA dealer he orders ATV parts for me all the time. Last time I put a starter in one of my 400's it was around 150 bucks if I recall, Artic Cat wanted over 400 bucks.
Just do a Google search for aftermarket stuff, I'm thinking a place in utah called Rocky Mountain ATV that is on the internet is a good place I've been told.
Here it is https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com I see they had a starter for about 100 bucks for a 400 machine. The ones I've had are made in China, little bigger diameter than OEM but they fit fine.

SE Nebraska | There is a place in Lincoln, Nebraska called Fred's auto electric. I don't know if they do atv stuff. But we take most of our auto and farm stuff there. Fast, cheap and good. I'd rather pay a couple Americans $100 to rebuild what I have than giving that same amount to a bunch of Chinese assembling a pile of cheap Chinese parts. |

SW Iowa | What year is your Arctic Cat? I don't know all the specifics but pretty sure a bunch of those used Suzuki engines... if that's the case with yours you may be able to try OEM Suzuki (or find something aftermarket advertised for Suzuki) that would be the same. |

NW KS | I would find a used one on ebay or somewhere to rebuild it. |
|
|
|
Central KS | Start on Amazon and ebay. There are a lot of small dealers and aftermarket sellers on those two sites marketing their products nationwide. A clearinghouse for mom and pop shops, and on Amazon you have them acting as a third party broker to stand behind the deal if the seller doesn't do right.
I just did a lot of front end work on an older arctic cat and saved about 70% on the whole shebang by searching Amazon and ebay. |
