SE Michigan | Truck is barn kept most of the time (52k miles), last year had a mouse problem in the barn, got into the truck and now it has a bad mouse smell when you turn on the HVAC. Any cures?
Poor bleach down the cowl?
Is their a cab filter on those?
Not even going to try air fresheners, or other "masks" need to remove the smell
any ideas |

| I feel sorry for you, this will not be easy. I think you will have to take apart all of your
ventilation system, clean out the mouse nests and piss. |

NW Washington | There are products on the market made to get rid of vehicle AC smells for mold and mildew which might be worth trying. You may need this stuff even if you find the mice and nests. http://www.ultrashield.com/products_AC.htm
Be careful breathing in dust from mice nests and urine can be very harmful getting hantavirus . http://www.cdc.gov/hantavirus/ |

SD | Try engine air filter... I had the air filter light come on once and the engine air filter had such a big mouse nest in it I couldn't believe the truck was still running. |

Northern Illinois | Had a car I stored. Charged the battery, started it took it for a drive. Turned the AC it smelled and the fan barely ran. I pulled the fan out and found my other problem RIP in between the housing and the fan. Removed him and the fan worked fine. I took it to the car wash and they had a Ozone generator. That seemed to remove the smell but I still think I can smell it. |

SW Minnesota | I ended up putting a new fan in mine to get rid of it. |

Northeast Nebraska | Had this problem on a 2007. Yours should be the same. Remove wipers and both cowls under winshield. The passenger side cowl is solid because that is where air is drawn in. I had to remove some black "tar" type rubberized coating to gain access to inlet. Rinsed it out with garden hose.
I believe the mouse gained access from the water drain holes that allow water from under cowl to drain into door jambs. I think mouse climbed up the door jambs. Once the nest was removed and rinsed, smell went away quickly. I also used one of the automotive type duct sanitizer sprays that you use in the vents

NE LA. across from the fiberglass Charolais bull | I've had good luck with OdoBan and an ozone generator. |

NW KS | Are you sure that there isn't a dead one in the Hvac system? I have had 2 crawl up in the blower fan on a dodge Dakota and die there. Only way to get rid of that smell is to get rid of the dead mouse. |
