Central IL | Need some bentonite to seal up some seaping sand in a pond. I know the oil drillers use it but they get it in 50 lb bags and powder form and I am wanting more like a tandem load or something. Looking for granular. |

Sac & Story county IA | It is mined in northeast Wyoming and southwest South Dakota. We got a rail car load for a sewer lagoon project. That is the only time I have seen it in anything but bags. |

Byron, WY | They are all right. There are three bentonite plants within fifteen miles from here. One plant is five minutes from us. They'll give us all the reject bags we can carry. We use it a lot for sealing ditches and head gates. Doesn't help a guy in IL though. :-) |

| Probably too far away but here's a plant in southern Sask:

At one time they sold in mini-bulk bags but I don't know if they do anymore. It was shipped in those mini-bulk bags and used to seal tailings ponds at the Key Lake uranium mine in northern Saskatchewan.

What about fly ash from a coal plant? |

NC Indiana | Are you just trying to add it to the shore line or do you have the pond pumped down? Might be easier and cheaper to find some clay locally and smear and pack that over the area a foot or 2 thick. Last bentonite we priced for a job the freight more than ate up the savings vs local clay . |

Huntley Montana | What is your water source? Wonder if soil pam added during a flood event might solve your seepage. If you had a bunch of dirty water coming in the soil pam causes it to drop the dirt quickly. |
