Northwest Iowa | We like and have great luck with Woods

Central MN | We have an old Alamo 15' mower that has been beat to no end and just keeps going. It was in tough shape when we got it and thought if it can get us by for a while that will be good enough but we've had it for 7 or 8 years and it still works well so we keep running it.

NE Oklahoma | Stay away from the bushwacker. When we had them at the county I work for we use to keep a rebuilt gearbox on hand at all times. The older john deere cx 15s we had alot of problems with the gearboxes but the newer ones have alot heavier box and a 5 year warranty. You probably wont abuse one like we do here but I dont think you can go wrong with one of the big names deere, rhino, bushhog, woods, or schulte. The funny part is alamo owns bushhog, schulte and rhino.

SW “Ohia” | Land Pride; no questions asked. Best mowers made, and more affordable than Woods or Bush-Hog. Ours has taken abuse that no implement should have to endure, but still kept on trucking. Their newer models have a smooth top for easier cleaning, heavy cast gearboxes, rubber isolated drive shafts, etc. The paint they use must be some nasty stuff because it hasn't even scratched these last 8 years.

North Central OH | Which ever one you get don't get the light version, the quality between the light duty versions and the heavy duty versions is ridiculous. That being landpride makes a nice one, bought a used one last year, bush hog, rhino, and shlutes don't look bad either.

Bullitt County Kentucky | I own and operate a commercial mowing business. We do highway right-of-way mowing, as well as several large tracts of real estate in as of yet undeveloped industrial parks. Currently operate 12 batwing mowers behind 100 to 160 hp tractors. Here's what my experiences with a variety of brands tells me; Avoid Woods and John Deere like the plague. Even their best heavy duty models are not very durable in my book. I like Bush Hog 2715L mowers, but have good luck with all the various Alamo brands. Had one Landpride and found it to be OK, but not up to the standards of comparable Bush Hog as far as durability in extended rough use. Also, I've found Bush Hog parts to be less of a hassle to get in a hurry.

NW KS/ SC ID | I have a buddy that works for the state highway department, and he swears by the Schulte machines, claims there is nothing better. They got some new Land Pride's, and he said they are durable and will work fine, but he didnt like a few things about it, IIRC the rockshaft linkage for the wing, and he didnt like the toolbox, claimed it just filled with dust and clippings. He also claimed they were way over built in some areas, aka too heavy for what is needed. I would say either would be a good choice. Edited by GM Guy 1/23/2015 00:10
