Subject: Typical % off list price on new tractor

SW MINNESOTA
I'm currently dealing on a new magnum and wondering if there is a typical percentage off of list price dealers work from? Seems like it used to be about 20%. Trying to figure out how they are treating me on my trade or if they are bidding me closer to list than a cash deal then inflating the value of mine. Thanks

Better yet does anyone know what the markup is on a new tractor or what the dealer pays?

I think a few years ago with Case you could probably do better than 20%, maybe even 27%.

I have been doing analysis of some used machines compared to what I think an equivalent new machine would be on a good cash deal and I have been going to Deere and Case websites and building the machine on their site and then taking the price their site tells me times 0.75. I would also like feedback from others on what percentage of the list price they have recently paid.

Obviously you will never get the discount they receive for a large purchasing contract, but it gives an idea on how much wiggle room they have.

How did you find that? I'm really surprised Case is OK with something like that being publicly available on the Internet.

Most all govt contracts are available to view.  Case actually had a link from their website to the website i posted.

I googled "case tractor purchasing contract".    Adding government, procurement, RFP, or other key words can find you some interesting bids.

I use to have a good one from Florida for john deere equipment, but can't find it now.

I got 25% on a JD at the very end of 2012. List 300K, paid 225K. With lower grain margins I wouldn't think you'd do worse.

It has been years, but I always wanted a trade price and a cash price, then I would tell them I would take my choice.

NW Montana
23 to 27% on deere Its been a few years .

Govt contracts are public record.
Those prices include MUD and other concessions from the mfg..way below dealer cost.

A dealer salesman told me Deere corporate handles all the govt contracts and just gives the dealer a set rate for receiving and setting up the tractors.
