Was doing my annual maintenance on my 8300 this afternoon before I put it in cold storage for the winter. One of the last things I did was clean the outer air filter outside the shop. As I was holding the filter in mid air it felt like I was getting shocked as I was blowing air into it. Sure enough I set the filter on the ground and looked inside the filter and as I was touching the inside of the filter with my air gun I could see the static electricity arcs. It was getting dark out so it was easy to see the arcs. I've been cleaning filters for over 38 years and I've never once experienced this before.

Here a picture of my favorite air filter cleaning tool. I've got one of those high priced $400 spinner cleaners but prefer this instead. I'd sell it for 1/2 price if anybody wants it.

Other picture is an outer air filter out of my combine but it's made the same as my 8300 I was getting smoked from.

You might like your tool even better if you make it a foot longer and bend a 90 on the end.

Just proof read what i wrote, please don't take it out of context!

Happens almost every time "here". Depends on humidity mostly from what I can tell. A couple times it made me drop the filter. It was that strong!

I might take the air filter blaster off your hands. Does it not work as well as they claim? Almost bought one at the Clay County Fair last year but couldn't do it. Email sent.

I had a friend show me one time to just put a bare male coupler in the air chuck to blow filters out. Works great just kink hose and remove. Lots more air flow

You do realize that modification isn't OSHA approved. Of course my homemade version of this isn't either http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200451163_200451163?...
I just leave the air hose plugged in to recharge it and give the filter a blast every few seconds.

Actually I bought this short nozzle just like it is a LONG time ago before OSHA put a kibosh on selling them. Had I known they were going to outlaw them I'd bought more of them back then. I have two other wand sizes that meet the new rules but this one is still my favorite.

grandchildren are like kittens, they play, jump, try new things every day but the playfulness lasts a whole lot longer than the kittens.

Careful concentrating air out of a nozzle to clean those thin paper elements, certainly not recommended by the manufacturer,..When using the nozzle, as I expect we all will anyways, but be sure the safety filter is of good quality yet, not outdated, and be sure its in place.

That looks like mine. Mine is on a 1/2 inch hose. I use a ball valve and a piece of copper gas line. I folded the end over and crimped it tight. Then I drilled 3 small holes on one side. i made it to stick between the radiator and the air conditioner condenser. It works good for that and pretty good for air cleaners, bot of you open the valve out in the open the air pressure will bend the tube right back.
