Iowa | If all you will ever want to do is see a map:
http://farmworks.com/products/View
It's free. SMS does much more then just show maps and that is why they charge for it. |

NE Iowa | As twister said, its more than just map viewing software. If your only going to use it to view a map than your probably right it is a rip off. You may be better off to see if your local seed dealer, coop or consultant could make the maps for you. |

| I want to be able to see yield maps so I can see how different areas of the field yield. |

|

| Easy, buy another computer and download the free version to it.
Edit......for another 21 days of use.

What should I be doing with my yield data to "join the future"? |

roaming | The short answer is: you can't. It's a trial, so you can see if the software provides value that you are willing to pay for. If you don't see the value, no one is forcing you to pay for something that's not providing value. If you see value in the software, then view it as an investment that will provide a return. At the price of inputs these days, it wouldn't take many variable-rate prescriptions to save enough seed/fertilizer/chemical to make $750 look like a pretty good deal. But, if all you want is to see a picture, I can see why $750 seems steep. SMS is not primarily intended just for viewing maps. If all you want is maps, there are free (not trial, but free forever) software programs that will do that. |

Eastern Nebraska | I'm with @torn on this one. The main question I ask my customers when they ask when they want their maps printed is why? What's the purpose of printing a pretty picture? Are they management decisions off of the maps? Maybe. It's just making them see the value in what we off. We use SMS for mapping services. Customers can have the prescriptions made to save on seed cost, but then after each season make analytic decisions on how to proceed with their operation. This could be what type fertilizer to use, or how much to apply. Maps are pretty pictures unless the data us utilized. |

| A damn expensive pretty picture that just hangs on the fridge door I might add at that!! Each his own I guess. |

Midwest | As most everyone has said, it's a free trial of a program that can do a lot more than make pretty pictures.
It's like comparing use of an old-school globe to that of Google maps. Do you want a static picture (globe) that shows you something but that's it, or do you want to zoom in, get directions, see dynamic background images, use Google Street view, etc. |

Missouri | You can install again, and have a 21 day demo of advanced.
Past that, you need another computer, or to reinstall windows.
Ag Leader should really reposition "Basic". What they call "Basic" would be better called "Intermediate", should do the same things, and for the same price. "Basic" should be cheap, or a free companion product with a display, and should have very basic functionality. Basic like makes simple maps and that's it. Either that, or open up smart reports to more than just application configurations, and let people print that way. The display shipping without a way to get operations on paper is, in my opinion, an incomplete product. |
