| Darn lawyers.
Remember a few years back, a class action lawsuit was launched by a law firm, suing the small engine manufacturers over horsepower claims. Said they were overstated and millions of consumers bought and operated equipment that wasn't quite as powerful as advertised. You may have got a postcard in the mail asking if you want to participate, for if the lawyers win in court, and you own a push mower, you would be rewarded with a cheque for $10 (whoopee).
After that, you may notice that many manufacturers of equipment with small engines no longer state the horsepower, just the torque or cc's of displacement. |

Midwest | I'm used to cc's anyway so I don't really care hp when it comes to small engines. Dirt bikes, four wheelers, snowmobiles, SxS, etc. |

NE MT | I have a compressor with an older 9hp that looks just like a new 270cc. |
