Are all the classic 359/379 hoods a component fender type system? I recall the older ones with steel fenders, one could remove the fenders with simple tools. How hard is to remove the fenders on other year models 379s?

Does anyone have any pictures of one without the front fenders for any reason?

they did make a few with fiberglass hoods but not very many. Other wise not hard at all about 20 rivets and a couple brackets on the front and back come right off. Then put them back on with quarter inch stainless bolts. have some pics of a 359 will look

Awesome. Thank you very much for this information and pictures. That's just what I was looking for.

Great looking truck you have created. I notice there are hundreds of visor configurations for these trucks. Do you recall what visor you bought? I like the style of it.

for the amount of building you like to do you should get a huck rivet gun. You used to have to have the special length for every different application, now there is a universal size. Think it is called a magna-grip, magna-lok or something like that. I would bet you find alot of uses for one in your projects

Brian fine and dandy huck guns are not cheap and how much are you going to use it, I don't think it would be practical, each huck gun is unique to size of rivet, Scott.

Dearfield Co.
visor looks like a version of a panelite to me.Personally I dont think that visor is my choice for a 359 as I prefer the bow tie style.

Not hard to take off at all.

Any tractor with a dual hub and spacer without a wheel will suffice

Not neat, but will, take it off

That's good advice on how to remove, sounds more effective than a wheel loader, which in my experience will only partially remove a 379 front fender.

I'll take a W9 over a 379 any day but that is one major disadvantage they have, fixing the fenders on the Mylar hood is far from cheap versus just slapping on a new one like the pete boys can.

Yep, a quick visit to ebay and a Mexican with a few tools had it back into shape, or at least good enough for an old silage truck.
