dollar a foot.....3M made...is that about the going rate? What I'm seeing basically on ebay. Doesn't really sound like a bargain.

Next thing I am wondering. 3M I know are good products but I am seeing some other knockoffs that instead of the white reflective part, they have a gray/silver reflective and to be honest, from the pictures, just doesn't have the brilliance and eye catching that the 3M has. Not to mention, I question how good the glue backing is.

Has anyone bought any of the knock off tape that isn't 3M made and had good luck with it?

Thanks.

Rich the last tape I bought was from Redneck trailer sales. It was 3M and pricey but it will stick to everything except tread plate. They have a store in Wichita. http://www.redneck-trailer.com/locations/2.htm They are a good place to buy trailer lights, tape etc. Its kind of like duct tape. There is good duct tape and the really crappy stuff that won't even stick to its self.

We have had 3M on a dump trailer since 94? time frame and it will still light up the barn when headlights shine through the windows at night, very bright. We put it on a lowboy Jan 96 and it is staying much better than the paint. The dump trailer is aluminum, no problem with the tape not sticking. I think we have part of a roll of Truck-Lite tape but not exactly sure. Just guessing from best of my memory you are close on the price. It still amazes me how far that tape shows up on a tail gate of a truck. Its good stuff. I think the second roll we bought a few years after the first roll was quite a bit cheaper. Not sure if it was the brand being cheaper or the price came down as more was being sold.

Rich, are you sure you might not be over thinking this a little bit?

I'm not even sure what I use for reflective tape. I think it's 3M.... but I also think it's got the gray/silver thing going on.
It's still on the truck after 2 years. It wasn't prepped well before going on... and it still sticks out like a sore.... thumb.
A buck a foot sounds cheap to me...

We've used this , and it appears to be as good as 3M.

Bought some around a dollar/ft. (maybe 3m) Didn't last long but maybe it was the forklifts rubbing it all the time

The silver stuff shows up better then the 3m in some applications, depends on how the light hits it.

We've had at least three or four different kinds, and it has all stayed on fine and it is all still reflective. The only difference I can tell is that some styles are brighter under some angles then others. I have a piece on the end of each corn head snout, and the kind which one head has is a lot better there then the others. Not sure what it is, but it's not 3M

Oskaloosa, Iowa 52577

we have always used the diamond-level 3M or better............and then use "goop" to seal the tape..........seems to hold better until someone rubs it off.

Used to be a place on ebay-------little private outfit-------that sold the diamond grade cheaper than anyone else I could find.........point.........check ebay, but obviously the specifications fo the tape have to be USDOT or better.
