Neighbor has an 8000 he was thinking about pulling. Always thought they were kind of neat looking tractor. How would they fair and were they a decent tractor.

We pull a 9700, and several friends pull 9600's. The 8000 has an outstanding cylinder head on it already.

Fun winning with the little 401 small motors by comparison still produce surprising power for their size.

Open classes with 619 Deere 6030's and P pumps, you're not going to win against those, but the mph classes is where you will clean up.

Are the 9600 and 9700 just turboed 401's, I assume bigger pumps also.

Central PA

There are a bunch of Ford 8000 through 9600's pulling around here and they do really well when you turn them up. There are a few dominant Fords in the Interstate pullers out of PA/VA/MD, mostly through the creation or assistance of the Forresters out of Chambersburg, PA. They are nice people and if you gave them a call they would probably be willing to help you out in one way or another.

I really like the Ford 8000-9600 tractors.  They add a splash of color, look pretty cool, and can really hook up if you know what you're doing.  In fact one of my favorite pulling memories was watching a Ford 9000 weighted down to 18,000# beat a bunch of 4850's and Magnums with a full pull in the wee hours of the morning at New Centerville, PA probably 10+ years ago now.

Lincoln County. NC
If you really want to light up a Ford, bolt a Genesis engine in it and start twisting that.

Were Genesis motors built by Ford or someone else. How much bigger were the motors and would they bolt up.

If you go to pulloff.com and search the Feedback section for Ford, you'll find a lot of discussions about fords and which genesis engine to install and how.
