Subject: Horsch Anderson 500i air tank variable rate

Victoria Township, North Dakota
forgive me in advance for posting in the Machinery thread but the exposure is better here than in the precision forum

the story does involve iron and welding.

Help me out here I am going to put this post up on twitter and tag a few tech companies in it Thank you in advance for reading this!

I purchased in 2018, a 2006 6015 Horsch Anderson air seeder double shoot dry system with 500i 3 product air tank and ISO system from AgTron from Butler Machinery.

Butler has been great to work with and supporting the drill and getting us going a putting a good crop in the ground for the spring of 2018.

So I want to variable rate for 2019 with prescriptions from Farmer's Edge.

I was told I needed to have my ISO Agron ECM flashed to 3.08 software in order to variable rate.

So I took my ECM off the 500i tank and took it in to Butler, in Bismarck it appears my ECM is right on the cusp of being too old to take the new 3.08 soft ware from Agtron. But Butler would sell me a new ECM for $2,100ish that will take the v3.08 and plug in to my cabling and be able to run the electric drive motors. Just need a few pins switched and it will hook up to and ISO screen.

In the cab of my Challenger tractor I have an Outback Max screen that does a great job of auto steer with Edrive X

In order to get the Outback Max ready to run the ISO air drill I need to purchase an unlock for the outback Max and a cable to hook up the drill

approximate cost $3000 for unlocks and cables.

that puts me at over $5,000 to do variable rate for 2019 on my Horsch Anderson air seeder.

But those components are staring to show their age.
The Outback Max has been replaced by the Outback Rebel.

The Agron ECM was released over a decade ago.

to my knowledge, neither of these systems have a plug and play solution yet for Fieldview from Climate corp

which we use on our row crop planters and Gen 2 2020 monitors with yield sense in our combines.

So last year we put vDrive gen2 on our 24 row 30" planter.

Previously we used John Deere hydraulic drives Row flow from Precision Planting to do variable rate population on the row crop planter.

I now have 4 John Deere Hydraulic VRD motors at my disposal and row flow and seed sense harnesses and a spare 2020 Gen 2 on the shelf.

So I am thinking of removing the electric Horsch i500 motors and then mounting three John Deere hydraulic VRD motors on the air tank to run each of the the meters on the 500i horsch tank.

Is there a way to run the VRD motors with the row flow ECM's as dry rate applicators through the 2020 monitor?

and then plug my iPad in the back of the 2020 to report directly to my field view account?

Thank you in advance for reading to the end of the post.
