| So we had a field cut for silage last September. Seeded rye as a cover, going to corn this year (not the ideal rotation, but it was already set in the plan) and it worked with our manure application plans. We lightly grazed for a few weeks (very low stocking density) and then cut early early boot stage, baled and wrapped. We have about a short 4T/Ac. We won't feed near all the bales we have so I'm looking for suggestions and pricing methods. Can we let it go through fermentation and then test to get a RFV to help quantify value? Any ideas on $ value or how to set a price? We're a little bit of a pioneer in this as not much of this work has been done in our Western Iowa location. | |
