Chilliwack, British Columbia | Howdy.
After spending the day pulling the mouldboard plow, and then some time trying to pull it apart to fix it, I got to thinking. Is there a way to not use it in our conditions? We are plowing old, freshly harvested for silage grassland, as well as winter wheat stubble, that was harvested before head out for feed quality. So it wants to continue growing.
Would one of those machines ( CaseIH 527B) work up the stubble enough that we could almost plant into it? We currently only have 110pto HP as our big horse, may be able to turn to 140, so that probably wouldnt' be enough anyway, would it? Just getting tired of turning dirt over all the time, if we don't have to.
For the record, anyground that is left corn silage stubble over the winter, sees the chisel plow and then the cultipacker before planting. Makes life much easier, just trying to make a similar process for grassland.
Thanks for any insight,
Glenn
