Subject: LOUD new skidsteer

Earlville, NY

Just took delivery of a new Deere 318G skidsteer, for barn cleaning, etc. Seems ok so far, except that it's very loud. We've always had NH previous, and all of them will make some whining when you drive and steer at lower RPM, but the Deere hydraulic drive is almost intolerably loud unless you're running the throttle wide open; (operating bucket and boom doesn't make any extra noise). We usually try to run our machines at 2/3 or 3/4 throttle most of the time, makes it easier to finesse around in the barns. Even had the tech come out, said just run it wide open all the time; easy for him to say. It's our first with a fully enclosed cab, if that matters; may take door off since driver is in and out a lot. Is this much noise a normal thing with new machines? I'd say it is like the difference between having a cab that's sound insulated vs non.
