Subject: Turbine pump destroyed

West Texas near Lubbock
My renter reported a line shaft turbine was not pumping. The pump was pulled and two sections of the driveshaft were unscrewed. Threads on the pump shaft were destroyed and threads on the other section were ruined. This pump was originally powered by a gmc nat gas engine. It was replaced by an electric motor about 4 years ago. I believe that the electric motor was made to run backwards causing the damage. None of the other equipment on this line had a phase reversal. Has anyone else experienced this kind of irrigation equipment vandalism. If so, how do you prevent it?
