Subject: This ones for Tom

SC Wisconsin
Just like last year was an anomaly, this year was too. Finished stalks yesterday with 580 of the nicest stalks ive ever made. Did a few for neighbors to put me at 905 through the baler in a week. It was 70+ degrees here last week and I've never had to run the AC when baling stalks. Only breakdowns were 3 hammers on the stalk chopper. Just passed 6k bales through my baler and I havent even broken a pickup tooth yet, so I've been very happy with that.
Also got the floor and fan put in the bin I put up this spring but never got around to finishing. Once we started combing mine it was obvious I was going to need it. Pretty happy with yield overall, and one little 6 acre piece at my place that is jet black peat ground we took 3 600 bushel truckloads off. Corn was coming out anywhere from 15-17%, so a touch drier than I would like but I won't complain.
I was baling some at mom and dads, there was a wet hole from the last couple years that got tile last fall. The manure pit is full at their place,, so dad and one brother were moving bales as I made them while another brother started ripping as they moved the bales. I turned around on the top of the hill and see a big fire with the silhouette of a skidloader. My first thought was a skidloader started on fire, but then I remembered we had talked about burning the grass where that wet hole had been. Definitely made my heart skip a beat.
My youngest brother is 13 and has really taken off with running equipment this fall. He raked almost all the stalks and did a great job. He's been chisel plowing like a madman too. Its really fun getting lots of stuff done when you're not just working by yourself and everyone just knows what to do to make things flow nicely.
All in all very happy to be done with that annual project. Probably going to take the next day or 2 a little easy because I can finally breathe. Still have some more ripping and manure to haul, plus I just finished up buying a farm down the road that I'm very excited about, but needs ALOT of tree trimming and waterway work done. 2020 was a rockstar for me, and while I understand many people haven't been as fortunate I will take it over 2019 every day and twice on Sundays. Ill add a picture of the last of 2019 stalk bales from earlier this fall. They say you need to remember the bad times to appreciate the good ones, plus somebody has to be that guy to keep reminding people how much last year sucked lol
