Northwest kansas | Our stx 375 has become very sluggish to start. This particular 375 is a straight 12v system, no converter and 3 batteries. Tractor used to be very hard to start, but put in a gear reduction starter and fixed our problems. During wheat seeding, was moving to a different field and transmission got hot as it does, but tractor died at this point. Wouldn't fire back up, left it overnight. Still not turning over, but hook a jumper cable to the starter and she fires right up.
This continued during seeding, got finished and ignored it for fall harvest. Have some downtime so put in a new starter, as it seemed to be needing to many cranking amps to turn over.
Put in a new starter and no change. Unhook all the batteries and load test them, all appear fine. Hook a multimeter to the starter, has 12.5 before turning over, and 6 immediately when trying to turn over. Go the batteries and it is the same. My theory is it isn't a connection because the voltage does the same exact thing at the terminals. I am trying to find out from loc service if it has a starter relay/solenoid somewhere besides the starter, as maybe that has partially shorted out | |
