Subject: epidemiology studies compared to controlled trials

Presentation by Gary Taubes about the differences and the value of each type of study. How shows how scientific information can be helpful as well as harmful if used for the wrong purpose.

Epidemiology studies are sometimes portrayed in news headlines as scientific truths even though they are mostly valuable to generate hypothesis to create controlled trials. Epidemiology studies can show associations but not causation. Yet headlines sometimes present the information as a fact rather than just an association, misleading readers.
