Subject: Question for those familiar with older cat crawlers

Iowa
I'm working on a 10k d6c replacing both equalizer bar supports, the rubber pads in the supports, and the center pads under the equalizer bar.

Is it normal to have to pull the supports down tight to the roller frame with the bolts when you install these? I have all the correct parts and have it put together correctly according to the parts manual.

Before I put the bolts in the support sits approx 3/4" up off the frame. In the picture there is about 1/2" gap with the bolts snugged down by hand.

Have the front end of the tractor sitting on jack stands and wondering if I should get them out and put weight back on the equalizer bar to help "seat" the new rubber pads so the bolts don't have to do all the work sucking the support down tight to the roller frames.

Thanks.
