Subject: Dicamba After Tillage

mascoutah, IL
So here’s the scenario. Sprayed burn down early April on fall VT corn stalks. A few water hemp are starting to pop. Going to do one pass deep with a field cultivator and plant. Pre’s will follow the planter. Here’s my dilemma. I know from the past that a few of these little buggers will root back in. I was told a few years ago by a chemical rep to throw a little dicamba in with the pre’s and it would take care of them even if they are laying on top. These are xtend beans and I have no plans on running xtendimax post. Have been running authority first and metribuzin pre followed by prefix and roundup post at 21 days. This has worked very well for me in the past except on a late year when water hemp are already emerged and have a little size to them. I know it would be better to spray the dicamba in front of the tillage but not making two trips especially when our window may be very short. Still have to finish corn yet first.
