Subject: FOX 9 Investigates (MN Dept of Ag Commisioner)

EC MN - Hour North of 'The Cities'
Once again, FOX 9 does a great job of investigative reporting...NOT!!

Jeff Baillon does a great job of showing one side of the story and not the other.

First, I never saw any figures showing how many dollars our state makes from Production Agriculture as compared to all other industries that were mentioned in the report. I believe that Production Ag is the leading industry in Minnesota in terms of dollars from income, but I'll have to check. Here's one site Mr. Baillon didn't check out ------> http://www.extension.umn.edu/distribution/resourcesandtourism/DB613...

Typical TV/Media journalism of misleading the public to believe that farmers are receiving "government handouts" and have been for years, as if it were that plain and simple. No explanation of LDP's, acres in production, yield reductions from drought or other disasters, cost of farming compared to income, or the risk associated with farming in general.

Sorry to rant, but I HATE when mud is smeared on Ag and its tough to defend ourselves.

I'm going to continue my rant onto this address ----> [email protected] and I invite anybody else who feels that Ag has been misrepresented once again to send a polite message to Mr. Baillon explaining why he could have done a better job at reporting this issue, because I know I am.
