Subject: Nutrients and acids over the furrow

Poolesville, MD
We currently run 10 gallons of 11370 and zinc OVER the furrow at planting. We feel that with our thin soils and the amount of rainfall combined with being at the base of the plant we get the fertilizer in the plant. Our tissue samples prove it as well.I'm looking for ways to tweak that program without burning the corn. For starters our soils are low in N,P,K,S,Br,Zn and the highest CEC we have is a 7 which is misleading because we have a lot of stones. Also we are in Maryland and usually get higher rainfall than the rest of the country. I'm looking at adding other nutrients. I'm thinking about thiosul and maybe some potassium. Any suggestions? Also looking at adding blackmax 22 over the row. Do you think it will be beneficial over the row? Thanks.
