Subject: Why does wheat have a brown tip?

Nunn CO
Hello all,
A lady took a little wheat from us and grew some for "wheat grass" to make juice. I have had a handful of people sprout our wheat for decoration and juice before but have never seen this happen. I was sent a picture of the tips browning as seen below. Any thoughts what is happening here? How it fades from brown, to lime, to green is new to me.

Thanks
