Subject: Sparkler dust!

North East Wimmera district of Victoria.

G'day from Aussy, the country of huge bush fires at present.

Argument rages between 'greenies', conservationists and others about the cause of catastrophic bush fires in our Australian summer.

Of course to some, climate change is THE cause of these bush fires, and the corollary to that is "The Government should have done something about it! " [Climate change - that is]. Australia is  0.3% of the worlds population of 7.5 Billion, but the 'push' reckon we should 'change the world'!  China and India ??  NO, don't worry about them  - WE should do it.!

Fuel reduction [cold] burns have dropped off dramatically in recent years, so the forest floor is a huge supply of fuel, when [not IF - but WHEN] a fire starts. Statistical fact is that well over half of the fires result from the actions of fire bugs [maniacs] and lightning from storms. In short they are deliberately lit, or beyond human intervention.

What's this got to do with "Sparkler dust"?  I've just seen a video clip which informed me that "they" are seeding the forests with "sparkler dust" from aircraft, which makes the fires "uncontrollable!"

Now, party or fireworks 'sparklers' are composed of metal fuel, oxidizer, and a binder [ glue to make the stuff stick in on a thin wire]. A little research shows that the "metal fuel" and the "oxidizer" are combined in a compound like magnesium oxide, or magnesium nitrate or similar.

How thick would this sparkler fuel need to be spread to even assist a fire to burn?  1 kg on a Hectare [2.5 acres] is only a gram on 10 sq metres - stuff all! A tonne [1000kg] on a hectare would be a Kilogram on 10 sq meters.  -  10 tonne on an airplane would 'seed' 10 Hectares - or a measly 25 acres

??Maybe make a difference??

The informant on the video clip put this 'spreading of sparkler dust' in the same basket as "Chem trails" - which are "poisoning our catchments and ruining our water supply."

Oh - the natural gas "frackers" are using millions of litres per frack - out on the Nullabour plain, that's where all our scarce water is going!

My questions  -

How much sparkler dust would be needed to affect a bush fire?

Could 'worthwhile' amounts be loaded on commercial passenger jets?   [That's how 'chem trails' are made!]
