East central Iowa | I use these to edit video from my camera, from DVD's and from my television. OpenShot will edit most but crashes if I try to edit WTV files from my windows television recordings. It does edit VOB files and everything else. ShotCut edits WTV, VOB and everything else I'v tried, it's a little more robust. VSCD edits everything too but I don't care for the confusing array of options. It does come with a video screen capture and some other tools that are nice.
and there are 2 other programs that I use, one takes an AVI file and radically compresses it. MeGui can compress an mpeg or avi about 10 times. Handy for emailing or uploading to YouTube much quicker. I have used Handbrake to convert a file but now I find ShotCut or one of the others better suited.
If you download one or all of these (because each has features I find useful at different times) go to YouTube and learn how to use them. It won't take long if you're at all computer literate.
