What are they thinking?   

I prefer my combine's feederhouse bars to have some give to them to take some of the stress off of the chains when a foregin object enters.  Cast sure isn't going to offer much relief...it's not like it bends well...it breaks!  I don't imagine that they are going to get along with rocks well either.
