Northern Indiana | Looking for a cheep cover crop with forage options
On some of these PP acres we are thinking of using planting wheat in maybe mid July (if we can get across the ground) and then bale it in September sometime and wrapping it for cattle feed.
We would probably use a fertilizer spreader to plant and then run a packer over it to get good ground contact to make time. The other option would be a drill set on 15” centers with belt meters.
The wheat should winterkill if we don’t get it all baled.
What am I missing? . | |
