north-central Indiana west of Fulton | We got our dose of heavy and really unexpected rain last night. Didn’t realize we had gotten so much until I saw all the ponds. Quite a range of amounts in the area. Ditches are quite full and one that goes through our muck farm , nearly came over the banks leaving water in the field on both sides.....pushing out surface drain pipes. This was just planted this week and could be rowed. About a third of our corn was planted Starting May 7th, and was just sprayed, looks good , and is going to be too tall to side dress by the time it drys out. That’s why we don’t side dress, these rains are common after planting, and we have to try and get hay made....which is 3 weeks behind! Glad the soybeans were nearly all no tilled, stalks buffer the pounding rain well. Now spraying the soybeans is the issue. Some of the burn down was put on long enough ago it is time again.
