Subject: why wash from the bottom up?

Cherokee County, Northwest Iowa
In the past I have had to wash house siding with some concoction for mold and mildew, and the experts say "start at the bottom and work up". Read the instruction manual for a pressure washer the other day, is says to "start at the bottom and work up".

I am sure that there is a very good reason why you are supposed to do it that way, but I must have missed that memo. Someone want to enlighten me? Thanks in advance. Bruce.
