Subject: explain market moves on expiration day

NE SD
June options expire today. How are the dynamics of trading today different than any other day. I assume it has something to do with the big players NOT wanting to let the guys that bought $4 call options exercise their right to be long $4 when the market closed. If this is true does that mean that $4 resistance is even harder to take out than it would be if it were not expiration day.
