western iowa | I have a Kinze 3000 planter with 15” split rows. Have been using the lowest transmission setting in the standard drive which is about 162,000. Helped a neighbor finish planting beans last year and he was running 150,000. I didn’t have the longer chain to switch to the 50% drive setup. Figured out I could switch the 17 tooth sprocket in the standard drive to the 19 and use the same chain. Lowers the population to about 89.5%. Now I can get 145K,150K and 156K on the lowest transmission settings. Just don’t forget to switch it back to the 17 for corn. My beans have been lodging and I am trying a lower population myself this year. Thought this might be helpful to someone else with the same planter. | |
