Dad talked about hard winters.  Lack of heat and food.  They lost weight.  It was especially true in the 1800's.  Now, at least for me, the hard winter kept me inactive and house bound.  I gained 15 pounds, just the reverse of my ancestors.  

I've got to find some way to go south next winter, or find some way to stay more active.
