Subject: Planting watermelon with a corn planter

SC IA
Anybody ever done this? I have an old junk set of corn disks for my planter, I'm thinking of making "hill drop watermelon" plates out of a few and trying it. Maybe only every other row so I'm 60" between rows.

Or am I better off plugging some of the corn holes and just planting them singularly?

How thick do you plant those things anyway? Im wanting to plant something fun in my "garden spot" this year. Hopefully the melon crowd can comment. Thanks.
