Subject: Accident update

Strathcona, mn
18 days post accident yesterday. I had an appointment in grand forks with orthopedic surgeon yesterday. I’m progressing as he anticipated, so that is good. I got splints removed, x-rays, and hard casts. 4 weeks with these bad boys on! I learned more about my recovery though.... that’s the not so good news. The doc is very cautiously optimistic when he says all patients are different, lol. Generally, these breaks are life altering. The vast majority of individuals carry issues life long. Walking can be impeded and most walk with a limp. Post operation surgery is common for reoccurring issues. There can be better or worse scenarios but I’m not going to go into detail. Sounds like healing is slow, may be a year before I can walk somewhat normal under my own power. It’s going to be an interesting year to say the least. For now, one day at a time until heel bones are mended than try to start walking again.
