Subject: Brillion Packer Questions

Niagara County Western NY
We chisel and then run over our ground with a CIH 4200 finisher with spike harrow and rolling basket, never been happy with the ground after its been run. Seems to be a little wavy, too many grooves from the shanks left. Thinking about buying and pulling a packer behind it to help smooth things out. Am I just hiding the problem if I do that? Can I expect more even emergence, assuming my planter row units are running smoother possibly equating to more bushels? We borrow a neighbor's to roll beans after they are planted. I notice how much smoother it is for spraying fields vs our corn fields. What's the general opinion on them, lots of them in our area behind field cultivators and disks. Look for thoughts and opinions. TIA Jason
