| Jon Scheve has an excellent article about price later contracts found at agweb.com, blogs, Jon Scheve then scrole to the bottom to find the article which was published a couple of weeks ago. Basically he's saying that these contracts do a lot more harm than good. One important point for Iowa at least is that if the coop goes under financially any grain on a price later is basically lost where if you put it on storage the grain is protected by the indemnity fund which is like an insurance policy that covers most of your potential loss. In times like this we need to work together to help each other out and this looks like a good place to do it. | |
