Mid Michigan | Was approached by a dairy about selling them high moisture corn out of the field next fall. Usually we harvest corn between 20-25% truck it to the bin site, auger into the wet tank, auger to the dryer, air system to the storage bin. Then auger out to deliver. If we sell HM corn we would load out of the field and the same trucking cost as when we deliver dry corn. So what does each bushel cost me in handling? Someone told me they figured a nickel every time it went through an auger. Any truth to that? Thanks. | |
