Subject: Deer damage/ switch to sorghum

Virginia
After deer have ate approx 1/3 of my soybeans at 1 farm I'm looking into crops that deer seem to leave alone. One of these is sorghum. Have a market for it, and think I'm going to plant some for coming year. I've read fertilizer requirements on a crop and thinking 4 tons of turkey litter to acre, should meet needs of 125-150 bushel crop.

My question is should I drill it on 15 inch rows, or 7.5. will be using a Deere 1560 drill. Friend/neighbor says he has gears to slow drill down to put 5 pounds per acre. This is what he planted. He said 7.5 spacing is to narrow, but I've read some trial data that says it works good on weeds. What's y'all's opinion?
