| This is a small corn plot that is planted as part of some pheasant recovery acres. I planted it with an old John Deere 7000 4 row planter. Everything looked really good in early July and good weed control.
When I came back to check it later in the summer I noticed these strips where the corn looked like it had been eaten down to the ears. Of course these strips were now being taken over by foxtail. I chalked it up to deer damage and didn't give it a lot of thought. While hunting near it this fall I noticed that the strips are in 4s and skip every 4 rows, almost like it had something to do with what direction I was driving the planter. Is that possible? It was sprayed with an ATV with 10' booms but I really don't see how that could be an issue either?
Edited to add I apologize in advance to those who are offended by CRP, brown rats, non native pheasants, or hunting :-) .
