Reviewing yield maps today and it appears from some trials we did that we can cut seeding rate by about $25 per acre without losing yield. I’m think of reinvesting that money somewhere else in the program that may have better returns.
A little background on our practices. No till into cornstalks on a corn/soy/wheat rotation, weed control results are good to excellent and definitely not yield limiting. Soil test on 2.5 acre grids every 3 years and build to tristate levels then apply 105% of aph crop removals before every crop. Average yields in the 50’s with 60’s if we get timely rains. Clay loam soils with some hills. Fungicide tests we have done have proven inconsistent but show promise if we could fine tune the program?

No wrong answers, how would you spend that money? Fungicide? Insecticide? Micronutrients? Foliar fertilizer? More fertilizer? Other ideas? Discuss.
