NW IA | Looking for a cab tractor, FWA, loader, 1000 PTO. Looked on-line at some used tractors, the Kubota is new. The others are low houred and very clean by appearance.
I realize the Massey is significantly less engine HP, 83? Vs. 111 Kubota And 115 NH, but the eye opener was the fact that it has a 4.4 liter Perkins vs. the 3.4 FPT in the NH and 3.8 in the Kubota. All 4 cylinders. All very similar carcass weights. (Fair or not, the online comments re the T4. NH's are kinda discouraging)
How does this play out in use and life of the engine? Lugging power etc. Maybe need to look at similar HP Massey's to get the picture. The new 4700 series look interesting, but a Massey diehard mechanic said in his opinion he would hands down chose a 5000 series if he had to work one hard every day. Also drop to a 3.3 three cylinder engine in the 4710.
Side note, would the Massey lift and pull an 8 row 1200 Case IH pull type planter in relatively flat terrain? PTO fan motor so no hydraulics needed for that. Also the Tractordata website does not show 1000 PTO option on the M111 but the dealer said it has it.
Thanks for any input or experience with these tractors. Open to suggestions.
