Subject: 1680 clean grain elevator

west central ohio
So we had a pretty good corn crop here this year (for Ohio any how) It got me thinking as I am crawling along less than 3mph with a 1083 corn head trying not to overload the clean grain system. How did these machines handle good corn and a 8 row corn head when they were new? I have the speed up sprocket on it from a 2188 and good elevator paddles, the springs on the clutch are new, and shimmed pretty tight. I do have some wear on the augers, but not extreme. I feel like the rest of the machine can handle a lot more. Some of you guys can prob remember that far back right? Was it typical to be slowed way down in heavy corn? EDIT: Also forgot to mention that I haven't greased the clutch since last season.....
