Subject: Slime in my diesel tank.

Manitoba
My 8010 combine quit on us fairly suddenly without noticeable loss of power. Took us a while to figure out the outlet of the tank was plugged. Poked in there and got it flowing. Replaced both filters and it’s running fine. My diesel mechanic recommends running this tank right down (may plug filters again) and then try to flush it out a bit. This a first for me. What can cause this? My bulk tank has a filter but my truck slip tank doesn’t. I think We’ve only filled twice from slip tank this harvest. Can this slime form in the slip tank from a few gallons sitting in there for a few months? Is what some guys refer to as algae?
