Subject: Nitrogen dioxide

-North Mo
The post below is very concerning to me in respect to silage and nitrates.
My situation is custom chopper showed up 36 hours after the only rain in several weeks which amounted to nearly 3/4". Corn was not fired to the ear thus still active, ground was a little slick on top. Put 800 ton in 2 bags in approx 7 hrs. Next morning I walked around the bags / ends noticing this orange/copper stain spread back on the white bag and covering the surrounding grass and weeds ( much more than in the picture below) there was a heavy dew that morning - first due I'd seen in weeks because of the drought. This copper stain was on top of the ground litter as if it settled with the dew. In my ignorance I thought nothing of it, wondered if it was related to the inoculate. Looking at the picture, reading the attached article I am confident this was nitrogen dioxide. Does that mean my silage is high in nitrate? If so what now, could the bagged silage be dangerous to feed?
