Subject: an interview is 1953

West Texas

Back in the mid 50's I spent many hours at my Great Grandmothers house. She was well into her 90's during that time and my older sister and I would go by her house on the way home from school. Note! she did have a candy dish on her coffee table and we were allowed to get 1 piece of candy each day. At any rate, just thinking of her life compared to ours today makes me realize just how far we have came from a family that depended on their own efforts just to survive and the vast number of our citizens today that want to depend on the government for their very own needs.

Our local newspaper interviewed her in 1953 and I have included it in PDF format. She lived another 4 years after that interview and passed at the ripe old age of 96.

I never knew my great grandfather as he passed on before I was born
