McLeod County, MN | I have had a few people email that are interested with what I am doing with my beans and planting low populations. So here is a quick update. I had a few mins on the way back home from work yesterday and snapped some pictures. These beans were planted around May 6-8 at 90,000 population. Full seed treatment. Assgrow 19x8.
Last fall's corn residue was about 235 BPA. I worked the field once last fall with a POS Glencoe soil saver. This spring I field cultivated once with a 960 cultivator. Then I planted. I put on 170# of fertilizer with the planter, and I have Martin floating row cleaners to brush 95% of the trash out of my way. They sprayed 5 oz Sonic right behind the planter. Then I rolled it with a brillion packer. Sprayed around the 24th of June with full rate of Warrant ultra, 4 pts warrant, select max, power max. There are some escapes in the field, but not many. Weed pressure is mainly on the headlands/ field edges.
Ground is pattern tiled and rainfall has been heavy, but not torrential. Hope we can get it down to half an inch per week for the rest of the summer. Was hoping to average 70 on this piece, but I dont think that's possible. They are gonna be to my hips by next week.
