Subject: Put second cutting up with a heavy heart this year.

Northeast Iowa

We got a break from the wet weather in our part of northeast Iowa to put up some nice 2nd cutting alfalfa baleage. After having our old self propelled hesston haybine break down 7 windrows into first cutting we switched to hiring a local custom cutter with a triple mower and so far it is working great. They sure can mow down hay with that rig.

Ended up buying and baling a neighbors 2nd cutting alfalfa to put up with ours in order to replace some winter killed pasture. Total we got 160 acres all baled and wrapped thanks to family help.

Which brings me to my heavy heart. We were gearing up yesterday to get the second 80 started when we got the news that a very close friend/family member had committed suicide. To be honest I'm still numb from it. It was both hard but yet somewhat helpful to be able to stay busy throughout the day. I feel like I've lost a brother.

With the current situation across all of agriculture right now I know it seems like there is not much to be bright about. Personally for myself I've struggled the last few months with some down days just with the dairy situation and the uncertainty of future of it.

If anyone may read this post who is thinking that life is not worth it or they are along/no one cares for them. I'll say that people care! You are never alone and don't be afraid to ask for help. You light up this world more than you'll ever know!

Thanks for letting me vent some and I'd appreciate any prayers for my family.
