Subject: Windows 7 isn't looking right

waaaay east central Colorado
I run Windows 7 on a MacBook Pro using Parallels (not that I think the Mac/Parallels is the issue), have for years, and recently on the Windows side has taken to resizing its windows all goofily. I've went to Start>type in stuff to get to Display Settings, and sure enough, the display is set to "Custom" with zoom or whatever set at 199%. Ok, no biggie, change it back to the default 100%, save, re-login, right back to goofy. Ok, reset it to normal, shut-down Windows, fire it back up, nope. I can't make the display setting stick. I've tried everything I could think of short of re-installing Windows. Any ideas?

Tempted to quote Princess Leia from the original Star Wars, "You're my only hope" ;) As always, TIA.
