Subject: Upgrading A Fertilizer Spreader to Hydraulic Drive

ND
I have a pretty nice but older Demco 8 ton spreader. The gear box needs some work but it seems like parts are hard to find. I see this as an opportunity to covert it to hydraulic drive and allow me to do my own VR. I have done some VR fertilizer in the past but have been paying my supplier to do the application.

I have some experience with VR as my planter and NH3 applicator is capable but I’m not familiar enough with everything to build something from the ground up. I think with some basic explanation and instructions I could work my way through setting this up....right now I basically know I need a hydraulic motor, some sort of flow control valve, and some electronics to tell the valve what to do. Can anyone give me a better explanation of what I all need? I was hoping I could kind of piece everything together and not have to go buy everything new since I am dealing with a used spreader. I have an AL Integra or Pro 700 available to use as the monitor.
